How the Fund Works

SARF is designed to serve as South Atlanta's community quarterback and long-term steward. The Fund brings the people and institutions shaping the community into a shared framework, coordinates resources around clear priorities, supports disciplined implementation, and tracks whether commitments produce meaningful public benefit.

What SARF Will Do

  • Convene residents, public agencies, funders, financial institutions, corporations, nonprofits, developers, and community organizations.

  • Coordinate capital, strategy, evidence, and project pipelines around shared outcomes.

  • Support housing stability, corridor revitalization, wealth building, public-space improvements, youth opportunity, and cultural preservation.

  • Measure progress, disclose limitations, and strengthen accountability over time.

What SARF Will Not Do

  • Claim to replace resident leadership, neighborhood organizations, public agencies, or effective local partners.

  • Treat every project or funding opportunity as automatically aligned with the mission.

  • Launch every proposed initiative at once or imply that planning concepts are operating programs.

  • Count activity as impact when community benefit has not been demonstrated.

How Work Moves Forward

  • Listen: gather resident, business, and institutional knowledge.

  • Align: translate priorities into a connected strategy and initiative portfolio.

  • Structure: identify the right partners, capital, controls, and implementation pathway.

  • Act: advance approved programs and projects through disciplined stages.

  • Measure: report results, concerns, tradeoffs, and lessons, then adjust.

Capital Coordination

Over time, SARF may help organize public, philanthropic, corporate, private, and community resources around shared priorities. The goal is not simply to raise more money. It is to match the right capital to the right work, maintain appropriate controls, and ensure that funding decisions remain aligned with mission and community benefit.
